Pop the hood. Look at passenger side of engine. Find the frame and follow it to the fire wall. You will se a small piece of rubber tube sticking out and that's it. It drips onto the frame

I got this problem too. No problem now (winter), but during A/C season, it's terrible. I know where that hose is, but I think it's stopped up, somewhere inside the truck, or maybe its leaking where it's attached to the A/C ? How do you clear out the hose, if it is stopped up?

Anyone got any ideas, and especially some photos..........I have a '07 Access Cab.........

Have you checked your cabin filter behind the glove box?

No I haven't checked that, nor did I know there was one (?). Is it easily accessible ?

I've felt like the moisture was getting beneath the carpet, on that side of the truck, because when I remove the rubber floor mat, and if I put my nose directly down on the carpet, I can smell the mildew, right in the center. I think the matting beneath the carpet, got wet, at some point. Like I say, I haven't smelled it over the winter, and of course, I haven't been running the A/C, so this pretty much makes me think it's got something to do with the A/C, the drain hose, or maybe this filter that you mentioned. What does that filter do, what does it have to do with water, and how do I get to it ? Any help would be most helpful. I'd love to get this fixed before summer................

I had the smell and it was a very dirty cabin air filter, not a clogged drain.

Well, my filter was dirty, to say the least. It was packed with dirt, pine straw, and bits of leaves. I pulled it out, and I couldn't believe the stuff that was in there. I tapped it on the driveway to get out the biggest part, then I put the shop vac to it. Not only was the actual filter clogged, but the space above the filter, was packed full of pine straw and leaves. Again, I went got my shop vac and pulled out most of it, in and above the filter opening, then I had to rig up something on my shop vac hose to vacuum down in the fan. I couldn't believe all the stuff that was in there.

I just don't understand how it all got in there, nor how that could account for the mildew smell (?).

Either way, first thing in the morning, I got to go get a new filter. Anyone know what I need to get (brand / part #), maybe somewhere other than the dealer. They'll probably want $50 for one ! I got a 2007 Access Cab, regular 4x4 (no TRO off road, etc)

Okay, I found the filter I need (FRAM Fresh Breeze Cabin Air Filter CF10374). Ordered one online from Wally World ($14.99), and will pick up tomorrow morning on the way to bowling.......I hope this cures the mildew smell, but I won't know till warmer weather when I use the A/C.

Oh, and I have checked my drip hose from the A/C, and it is dripping, so I don't think that a stopped up drain is the problem, plus, we have had tons of heavy rain, etc, this winter, and I don't think it's a water leak, because, still no mildew smell in recent months. It was definitely happening during the warm months (?).

I'm still a bit confused on this, but regardless, I still needed to change my cabin filter (long overdue)! Any other ideas on the mildew smell are welcome.

Well Even if your running your defrost, you are cycling your ac compressor. That's how it removes the moisture out the air. So it will drip during the summer and winter months. As far as the mildew smell id let it sit out as much as possible by keeping the windows down and maybe some fabreeze.

Well, I understand what you are saying, but there is no mildew smell now........it's just been during the hot weather months. I'm perplexed, completely !

I just don't see how this "cabin filter" could have anything to do with moisture getting under the carpet, and that seems to be where I am able to detect the strongest mildew smell, when I go searching. It appears to be right under the passenger foot area, as best I can tell, without ripping everything out. Again, I don't smell it now, during the "heater" season, however, the smell is the most noticeable, when I first get into the truck, during the summer, and the A/C air begins to flow through the vents. After a while, it does to dissipate, but it's quite unpleasant for a while.

I bet the warm weather helps facilitate the grown of bacteria in the stagnant water. That's where the smell is coming from during the summer months. I would try taking my floor mats out for a little while, so the stagnant water/moisture can evaporate

The drain hose is on the passenger side underneath the glove box. Peel the carpet back and you'll see a hose connected straight to the evaporator.

Thanks, and yes, I know where that hose is located, or where it drains, anyway. I was able to follow it from the firewall back, but not all the way to the evaporator. Someone told me that it could be leaking back where it's connected, but I was having a hard time following it back that far. Maybe I'll try again. I wanted to stick the air hose to the evaporator end, and blow it out, towards the drain end, just to make sure it wasn't stopped up, but again, I haven't been able to get back that far yet, plus I really don't know what I'm looking for..........

As for the leak situation, I've checked several times, during and after, really hard rains, car washes, and while running a hose down the windshield, but I have not found a drop of water anywhere inside, anywhere.

What I don't understand, is how all that trash gets into the cabin filter, yet water does not ? I guess I just don't understand the air flow path..........

Are you talking about removing the rubber floor mats, or the carpet. I really hate to pull the carpet out, as I use this truck daily. As for the rubber floor mat, I've removed it, for extended periods, when no one else was going to be in the truck with me. That hasn't really made a difference, that I can tell. I actually did that a few times, and positioned the truck so the sun was shinning right on the carpet. Again, I'm not going to know if any of this is doing anything, till I start running the A/C again. I am going to try and clear out that A/C drain tube, though!

I was talking about the floor mats but you said you have done that with minimal results. Yeah I would also hate to pull my carpet also.

As far as cleaning the drain tube, you could somehow rig up an adaptor piece to you shop vac, and that should do the trick if there is any gunk in it!

Sometimes I have noticed I have had some mild moisture trapped under my weathertech floor mats. Only on my pass anger side. Mostly after a week of heavy rain . I don't have a clue where the moisture is coming from since I have a factory windshield and only notice it every 6 months or so

Are you talking about vacuuming the drain tube, from the drip end, outside of the firewall, or disconnecting the hose and vacuuming from inside the vehicle. If you're speaking of disconnecting the hose from the evaporate, from inside the truck, wouldn't it be just as easy to hit it from that end, with some the compressed air, and blow "whatever" may be in the tube, to the outside ?

Do you hear water sloshing around? I did... When I found the drain hose sticking out the fire wall on the passenger side. I used a 4' long tyrap and pushed it in until water started trickling then pushed some more in and twisted it a few times in the hose. Water poured out when I pulled the tyrap out.
