After reading most of the threads on suspension, I think I have only confused myself even more.
2015 Double Cab PreRunner 2wd. Looking to improve my ride quality. I spend 90% of my time on highway and country roads. Weekends sends me down some dirt and gravel roads with little to no maintenance. so my biggest issues in SW Louisiana are pot-hot ridden highways and washer board gravel/dirt roads.

I am somewhat pleased with the ride height of the truck however, obtaining additional lift wouldn't hurt my feelings. I am not trying to enter my truck into the next Baja race, nor will I be doing any mud riding or rock crawling.

After reading through the numerous threads on suspension, it seems that there is cult following of either Bilstein, OME and ToyTec that is rather evenly split.

I am prepared to spend the money needed for a good set up but I do not need the overkill. My ignorance to suspension systems just makes matters worse....I see a decent set up for a BOSS system for around 12 hundred and I say "Yea...that's probably where I want to go"...then I read up on the BOSS setup and I read everything from vibration issues, to handling issues, to the best thing since the poptart. The same is said for everything I have read thus far.

So, for a 40 y/o guy who averages 30k+ miles per year in this truck, I am looking for better ride/handling over "hey hold my beer and watch while I jump this levee".

So any help would be greatly appreciated.

It just might be me but I am not clear if you want lift the truck or not? You just want to improve the ride? If it is just to improve the ride I would look at up sizing your tire one size. and stay with a P rated tire I.e gong from a 70 to a 75 series. My thought is a larger rolling diameter helps in smoothing out the ride on rough terrain and increasing the sidewall size increases the complaisance of the tire and will not require a lift keeping you ride height.

I've researched a lot on this very subject so I'll share with you what I've found. The overall consensus for best ride seems to be Bilstein 5100s with zero preload combined with Eibach springs. This provides approximately 1.6" of lift. Bilsteins with stock springs in the rear seems to be the best. Avoid front preload and add-a-leafs if ride is your first priority.

Second is tires. As Just Dandee said, P-rated tires are your friends, maybe C-rated at most. Avoid E-rated at all costs.

Finally, I had great results removing my front sway bar. Slightly more lean on turn-in but very little change in road manners. Very pronounced increase in ride quality, especially offroad. It's easy to put back on if you don't like it.
