Painting doors

I need to paint a couple doors on a friends nissan pathfinder, from silver to white, i have an air compressor, so I can get a sandblasting kit, and paint gun set up. is it hard to do? any tips or advice? the body shop wants a lot to do the work, so we'd rather do it ourselves

 

Unless you are dealing with rust, do not use the sandblaster. Sanding down the paint to rough it up is quite sufficient. I hear that the Duplicolor Paint Shop stuff is easy to spray. I would recommend practicing on something first. Keep as much dust away as possible.

If you are looking for a really good looking job and this is your first time, you might be disappointed.

 

ok so no sandblaster, it doesn't have to be perfect, but descent for a DD.

I was thinking we'd use the garage and section off an area with some tarp, including the floor, to keep the dust out.

would you recommend one of those paint can handles?

or should we get a set up to use the air compressor?

 

its gonna look real blotchy if you use rattle cans. rattle cans are good for small areas but the paint doesnt cover well, its tough to get consistency and the paint is really thin (why it doesnt cover well) so its pretty easy to chip or scratch. If you want to go a good job dont get a cup gun get HVLP

1 for all other colors

I also have a older version for primer

PS you need at least a 40gal 13cfm compressor to paint
