Have a 2006 drove a 2016 OR over the weekend. The 2016 seating and overall ride is much better than the gen2. However, I am having a hard time taking that the 2016 is a lot louder when you accelarate. It has good accelaration but it just seems the engine struggles when you hit the gas pedal

8 speed transmissions is where they are headed according to all info. They are following Audi etc. My GFs A4 gets ridiculous gas mileage. 500 a tank and the trans is amazing

I wonder if this was what i felt during the test drive. There was a hard downshift that made the rear axle clunk when coasting to a stoplight.

Just got my truck back. Needed fluid. Not sure if this "update" actually exists, but I'm glad the tech took my truck for the day and got the fluid right. Feels better so far.

Yeah the seats in the 2nd Gen are pretty good comparatively. 2nd Gen are solid trucks, best selling trucks...can't take that away from them. There are a lot of people hating on the 3rd Gen, and I don't think it is all that deserved. Seems like a very solid vehicle to me.

They don't have the money to buy a new truck right now. But who wouldn't want a new truck. I had a 10 year old truck I just got rid of. What a huge upgrade for me.

I have a hard time reconciling this as well. I love my 2016, but this is the one single thing that I just can't get over, it's the one blemish in an otherwise very quiet truck. Far as I can tell it's mostly exhaust noise. The thing is, with the ECT PWR button engaged the engine quickly revs through that spot and is for the most part quieter. From what I can tell it doesn't meaningfully impact MPGs.

I'm hoping that Toyota will use this engine else where with a different and quieter exhaust setup and I can adapt to my truck. The next 4Runner maybe...
