I wanted an iPhone mount, but one out of the way and in the best location. On the A pillar! Does anyone make a mount for this location? There is a screw under the cap on the handle that could be used as a mounting location.

There has been at least 1 person who figured out how to fit a RAM mount in there but I can't recall which parts

I do not think that is a good place to mount your phone because:
    • obstructs your view
    • phone will be in direct sun and get hot
    • phone will be in direct sun and glare will make screen hard to see
    • a-pillar shit is played out don't be that guy

Here you go. I just did this mod 2 weekends ago. I absolutely love this mod and I have gotten several compliments over the last 2 weeks from contractors who have rode in my truck.

Yep there are at least 2 threads on this using RAM mounts. I have my Harmon mounted there. No "visibility" issues to speak of but its horizontal.

I got one from craven speed (http://www.cravenspeed.com/the-grab-bar-smart-phone-mounting-kit/) and really like it. At first I thought it was going to be too close to my hands on the steering wheel but it works fine.

    It doesnt obstruct my view
I haven't noticed it getting hot since on hot days I have the AC vent open and it hits the phone and on cold days it just doesn't heat up.
I haven't noticed any bad glare at all from the sun
I needed something strong that wouldn't break or come undone so this worked well. All the suction cup mounts and clip on mounts I tried just didn't work.

Couldn't agree more. No issues at all with heat, glare or obstruction of view. I too needed something solid and thus why I chose to do this mod.

Infinitely better than a shitty suction cup mount :)
