Socal buying in AZ

Sorry if this has been answered, but I tried googling and couldn't find a straight answer.

Has anyone from California bought in AZ? The dealer says I would have to pay the 8.3% tax in AZ by law. My local tax rate is 8%. Is this correct? I would be driving to AZ to bring it back.

Definitely want to make sure I wouldn't run the risk of paying both AZ tax and CA tax.

I bought a vehicle out of state, and I only paid the state tax when I registered it in my state of Texas. It may be differerent from state to state.

I bought my MX 5 in Florida and drove it back. I paid the $300 sales tax in Florida and completed the paperwork for SC when I got home.

 

I bought mine in Canada and did not have to pay the 13% Canadian Tax, I only paid the 5.5% Maine tax when I registered it.
