Anyone taken off bed rail caps?

    Thinking about putting a bed rack on my Tacoma once I receive it but am worried about the weight on the bed rail caps and rubbing the paint off. There are quite a few instances on the 2nd gens so I am wondering if anyone has taken these off? I am thinking about putting 3m clear bra underneath.

    Lol more worried about the rust eventually forming. This has also been documented in the 2nd gens as well as with tundras.

    People also get struck by lightening and planes crash. I'll take my chances with rust.

    Great question! Thule stated they should have the new 16 rail mounts out soon. If they rub that bad, I'm not sure if 3M Clear would last long. If nothing comes out soon, I may have to use my Yakima bars and buy some cab mounts.
