just recently bought some 285 75 16 nitto trail grapplers for my Tacoma and am wondering if I can fit them with a 3" lift or if I should get some 265 75 16s instead

I fit 285/75/16 bfg mud terrains on my Tacoma with just a 2" lift from rough country, 2" blocks on the back and coil spacers on the front, mounted them to stock wheels and put 1.5" wheel spacers. I had to do some trimming on the front and back fender well and remove the mud flaps but it turned out pretty nice.

285 is the norm you can go without any serious trimming or headaches. Also should note when you go up a lot in tire size and lift etc. It affects your gearing and speedometer reading/gas mileage. Depends on what wheel backspacing you have going too. I have second gen wheels on my truck and when I went to put on 285's I was rubbing on the uca's. So I either had to change my wheels or install spacers. I went with spacers for now. In most cases though you will only need to possibly remove the front mud flaps and beat down the pinch weld some in the wheel well. Super easy stuff to do.

Thanks for the response! I'm keeping the stock 16 inch rims for now and if they rub on the uca's I guess I'll just do the same as you have and add wheel spacers..once again thanks for the advice

They'll fit with some minor trimming to major upgrades depending on your backspacing as mentioned and how you drive it..more flexing you do offroad, more you have to trim

[IMG] This is my 2017 TRD OR with Icon stage 4 (aal).

I’m running 265/75/16 Ko2 a/t. Most people here are posting their 285s, wanted you to see what 265s look like lol

Also, 285s will defintely make your truck look taller since they raise your axle.
