Hello everyone, has anyone successfully added a new transponder key to there ecu on a 07 taco without the use of any computer or taking it in the shorts and paying the dealer 100 bucks to do it. I bought a new pre programmed transponder chip 4d key from ebay, had the dealer cut it. Luckily i stopped in the middle of the process when i was told by the cashier it was going to be an additional charge of 115 bucks to program it. Now i have a cut key that doesnt start the truck. It only opens the doors and thats it. What a waste because last week i bought a set of keyfobs from ebay and followed the included direction and now have 3 working fobs. Why cant the freaking key be that easy. Can anyone help?

I believe there is something you can buy to do it yourself fairly cheap, but it seems sketchy to me. I've never had any luck with those Ching Chong Bluetooth obd2 devices.

A locksmith with the right tool will be cheaper than the dealer. If you know a mechanic with a snap-on solus scanner it can also do it.

I keep reading through these threads, and each one seems to dead end. Has anyone come to a DIY conclusion, ever? It seems like I have to buy the Intelligent Tester thingy, or have a professional get the key into the truck's computer. I have an 07. Time is money. I think I've reached the tipping point where $50 bucks seems like a better deal than searching several more hours for a solution. Lucky for me, I don't need the key right now. It is only precautionary.
