Looks like they added a contour line in the new ones to try and keep them from bending backwards just from driving at highway speed like on gen 2's.

Has anyone installed the weather tech mud flaps for trucks without fender flares?

Stupid question: for the 2016 Tacoma, how do I know if my truck has OEM fender flares or not? I am looking at the weather tech mud guards and just wanted to make sure I get the right ones.

You don't have an SR, so you have the flares. TRDs always have them, and SR5s with the appearance package (which is almost every SR5).

That's what I thought and actually removed one. Too dark and couldn't see it's not a blank. Oops.

    My mudguard saga continues.
First the dealer forgot to order them until the day I picked up the truck (after waiting 47 days).
Then they called 2 weeks later to tell me the guards were in, scheduled appointment, only to find out after sitting in service department that the guards hadn't actually arrived.
Today I went again to service to have them installed.
They called me out to the service bay to explain that the mudguards don't fit my truck, and they are researching it.
The front ones, when snug against the truck, the screw holes don't line up.
The rear ones, don't fit over a horizontal bottom piece of plastic which runs from the wheel well towards the rear.
Are there multiple offerings from Toyota for mudguards, based on truck model?

    SR5, access cab, 4x4, towing.

You need to get the weather tech ones made for trucks without fender flares. For some reason toyota doesn't make them... weather tech is probably better anyway.

Funny.....saw the pic of this keychain in the left margin on my watched thread list and was like...Did I post my keychain in that thread? WTF? Did I even take pic of the keychain? Nope, it was you. But I did just recently score that same keychain off ebay. I liked it because it has no moving parts (swivels) to break and fits in pocket nice with keys.

Yes I like mine. Pretty nice keychain. I was worried the black lettering would rub off but that don't seem to be an issue.

Ouch. The dealer should have known this. The OEM Toyota mud guards don't fit trucks w/o the fender flares. It's mentioned several times when you look up the OEM part #.

I'm surprised they got that far (to the point of install) w/o catching this error.

I hope you didn't pay for them.

If you did, make the dealership give you flares to solve the problem.

Ditto about the weather tech. I purchased the ones for without fender flares as soon as they came out. 10 minutes, tops, to install

Thanks for the info guys...my local dealer wanted $120 for the set, so I just ordered them (plus a tube step) from trdparts4u and paid $65 for the mudguards. Funny that it turns out to be cheaper to buy them from Dallas than 15 miles away from home.

Does anyone know if the holes are the same for fenderless vs fenders? Just wondering if some universal flaps that were installed on a fenderless will fit my off road.
