So yesterday I noticed my drivers side caper was soaked through primarily in the front area. I was removing the carpet anyways to install a vhf antenna, check the plugs and did some searching. Mostly came up with first Gen results. I figured it had to do with my clearancing for 315's so I applied a liberal amount of black silicone to the seam sealer area along the pinch weld. I should mention the modifications for 315's were done in December and this is the first time I've had wetness through many rain storms and water crossings. Today while it was downpouring I ripped it all apart again and shoved my head inside I can see a dribble down the firewall behind the blue plugs in the kick panel. Previous experience leads me to think the windshield seal is toast. But I'm trying to see if there is any other reason. I've seen the posts about the cowl leak but those all ended on the passenger side. I don't have a rear slider either. Any help is appreciated thanks boys !!

Do you have a roof rack? I have read a few posts where if the foam/rubber washers weren't lined up correctly that it would cause something similar to what you are describing.

So it would seem that the leak was my own fault. When hitting the firewall with my hammer to allow enough room for my 315/75R16 tires the seam sealer cracked and all the panels separated so I attacked it with some new sealant. It rained last night and there isn't any new wetness just some residual dampness. I vaccummed as much water out of the carpet as possible and cranked the heat and left it running for 45 minutes.

    New sealant.

Looking back I probably should have taken the tires off but I didn't have a whole ton of time last night. I'm gonna wash and paint everything once the weather dries up a bit

Water in the cabin is no fun. Glad to see you fixed it.

I'm cautiously opptomistic I checked it when I got back from work cause there was a downpour, no new water inside only damp from the carpet underlay. I vaccummed it again and ran the heat on full blast with the ac on to suck out the moisture it'll take some time to dry it out but I think it's gonna be ok. Just gonna Continue to monitor it
