i could be wrong but i think thats just a spacer thats there to get rid of the taco lean. they should be pretty cheap but youll have to have a shop do the install if you arent very mechanically inclined.

Not really, I was told it's just a spacer to keep metal from rubbing against metal idk. Just wondering really, the real problem is the rear leaf springs are damn near flat and with a squeak from hell.

white lithium grease can help the squeaky spring, and yea most stock tacos have flat leafs. mine included haha. but yea its just a spacer.

you can get a spray. on my old xterra id have to apply it every 6 months or so. its not hard at all and a hell of a lot cheaper than replacing them. you can get it in a can, yes

I also called Toyota today asking about the new leaf springs for the 20009 model cause I almost want to buy new ones and they said somewhere between the middle of the month and end of the month they'll have something for the recall.

they have a TSB out that basically adds a helper spring to them to help it out. they may be talking about that part. theres a bunch of people on here that have done that.

that bushing that is cracking is the spring isolator. Its on every stock truck. It is not a lean spacer.

Honestly i would not worry about it too much unless it completely splits and gets spit out.

Now there is a recall on the leaf springs where they are being replaced with new springs that have an extra retainer clip to keep them inline when they snap in half..

I'd definitely leave those rubber pieces alone until you need struts. I bet the only parts that flake away are the edges that are not pinched under load.

when ready and you replace the front struts, replace the isolator with a polyurethane isolator for R&R there! Prothane and Energy Absortion has the parts for that and do the front sway bar and steering rack also R&R with Poyurethane bushings, I did ,all in red !
