Looking for 6-7" round off-road lights - are HID's worth it anymore?

Just received the BAMF light bar in the mail and will be doing my custom grill insert soon. So I'll be to be buying some lights here....

I'm leaning heavily towards rounds. I think they utilize the grill space better, and, to me, look cooler. Down the road I'd like to eventually get an LED bar on the roof. But for the grill lights, I'd like to focus on amber too - mainly for winter driving.

Bang for buck, how are HID's these days? Because I can find some HIDs that would fit and look perfectly. Either the KC Prosports or the Baja Design Pre-runner's. Both 35W HIDs. But projected lumens for these seem low compared to LED's. Not to mention I can get an LED light for a lot cheaper.

Is there a benefit to HID's that I'm missing? Should I not be putting too much stock in advertised lumens?

A 90W Auxbeam 7" LED round pumps out 9000lm and only costs $85!

    Enlighten me. :rimshot:

I'm reading that lumens isn't everything, and that an advantage to HID is still that they throw the light better. While LED's have insane lumens, they're not nearly as focused, so less light goes down range. So I guess that has me leaning towards HID - considering what these lights will for.
