2wd and 4wd rear ends, swap axles?

    97 2wd tacoma
    Chip,exhaust,intake,lowered.
    i have a 97 2wd tacoma and this is my second option, is to buy a 4wd rear end with the electronic locker and a 4.10 gear ratio and swap my axles. but i dont know if my 2wd axles will go into the 4wd rear end. since the 2wd's are 5 lug and the 4wd's are 6 lug i dont wanna have two 5 lug wheels and 2 6 lug wheels.
