I expect it to have errors. Im trying to avoid using any sound deading that will cause me to have to make adjustments my self.

What kind of tweaks are you thinking? Shortening the height to allow for clearance below, around the black factory seam sealant? I guess in the picture it appears that the sealant could be filed down to allow for better clearance, but it's hard to tell with just the one picture... Any chance you could take a few more, just to see the overall product?

What are the odds of extending the bottom lip out towards the seat and then up about an inch or so? This would make a nice flat bottom that could sit on top of that black stuff and allow for someone to add sound deadener, as well as give us a nice place to mount cans and catch stuff that may fall out of bags?

Just a thought, I know I'm late to the party on the design phase

No, but still very close. After I make the adjustments on mine, I can send new specs to the shop so hopefully it won't delays is too bad.

I have a buddy with one of the original MOLLE panels and he had trouble with the bottom lip. I believe he ended up cutting it off.

It's all good. Actually I'm about to go the other way and take that lip off altogether. Considering whatever that black sealant is actually called, it's not spread evenly and could cause potential issues. If I had the time, money, and equipment, I could design and make all kinds of things. I have to settle for just designing and have someone else fabricate.

    Cut the lip off.
    Install sound deadner.
Cover entire back wall with carpet.

Essentially create a semi-solid floor that the bottom edge is "pressed" into.

There is a little flex at the bottom. But not enough to affect structural integrity.

Or atleast is the case with mine.

Unless every truck has the exact same amount of the black mastic applied in the exact same place...if may be difficult to create a perfect fit for every single application.

If mounting point is desired at the bottom a simple piece of flatbar could be bent to connect to the rear seat mounts.

If you cut the bottom off and there is a loss in stiffness or some kind of vibration, we could very easily rivet angle steel or aluminum on the bottom at the time of installation. This would provide flexibility for each individual owner to adjust it up or down. I'd vote for just having it removed with maybe 1/8 or 1/4 inch of material off the bottom. Thanks for taking on this project.

I was in on the original buy and I don't remember cutting anything off. I'm pretty sure that the black stuff that @docloco was referring to was the factory sealant they spread over the joints in the cab.
