image.jpg image.jpg Just got back from the dealership. I had originally bought a water bypass pipe to replace the broken part on my Tacoma. Why the manufacturer would use harden plastic is beyond me but it is a good vehicle. Replacement part is made of stainless steel. I did not know that it required a gasket for the new style flange. Just got a call back and said that they will have my car until Tuesday. That is four days from now. Is this normal to wait so long to get a gasket shipped to them?

Do you have part numbers ? Where is this pipe ? Thinking it might be good preventative maintenance. Thanks for any reply.

Does it take an actual gasket in the 'traditional' style?

Or an o-ring seated in a groove?

My 2012 came with the stainless steel bypass pipe. The intake has to come off to replace it.

Thanks for the reply and information - does the part number 16268-75110 come with the gasket or is that a separate part number ? I googled 16268-75110 and it looks like about $38 plus shipping - didn't check shipping charges yet. Thanks again.

The original plastic bypass pipe has an O-ring in the flange. The upgraded metal bypass pipe has a flat gasket that covers the whole flange surface on the front side of the pipe. The gasket is sold separately. The inner raised surface of the gasket goes toward the block/thermostat housing, it should nestle into the recessed area where the original O-ring used to be. Torque the nuts to 13 ft-lb.
