I'm thinking that they would have to show evidence that you backed into something in order to dispute that you were backed into while parked.

That's what I'm thinking. Plus, this picture right here is pretty good indication something was moving sideways at the time of impact, like a vehicle backing into and turn at the same time ....the scratch sideways and paint transfer is pretty evident

It is not that he's paying a percentage of his deductible, he is paying 100% of his deductible. The deductible is different for uninsured motorists.
Just like you have comprehensive and collision, S.C. Requires the OP to carry Uninsured insurance, of which is a whole different deductible. He doesn't pay his collision deductible because it isn't a collision claim!

Geez, I know this. Same here only I have 500 collision deductible and 250 UIM. That's why I generalized about paying half my normal deductible on the other page when this happened to my car. 250 UIM is half of 500 collision. I was simply making a math comparison to the collision deductible both times. OP said his UIM is 200 and collision is 1000. He's paying 100% of his UIM deductible which happens to be 1/5th what he said his collision deductible is. I was only saying glad it will cost 1/5th the money to get the truck repaired than it would if he was having to pay the collision deductible. I was never saying he was only paying 1/5th of his collision deductible.

Why are you so wrapped up in explaining the validity of your posts? You learned as much about insurance as most people probably did in this thread, just take it for what it is and walk away.

If anything, I'm wrapped up in why a generalized comparison of different amounts of money leaving your pocket to have a vehicle repaired has angered the lords of insurance expense designation like it was some attack on the proper categorization of policy coverages and some sort of disrespect to the whole industry.

The math comparison is irrelevant since everyone will have different deductibles. Or some of us (me) live in a state where I have to make a collision claim for an uninsured motorist. Mentioning the ratio differences in the deductible just confuses the situation.

Well it's official.....I only have to pay $200 deductible! The dealership is charging out the ting-yang though.....$1098 for a stock bumper! I'm trying to get them to either not install that and cut me a check or get USAA to authorize me to buy an aftermarket (Pelfreybilt or SOS) for cheaper with better protection. Seems like a no brainer to me but you know how that goes.
Ended up replacing the entire quarter panel. $3300 total repair

Yea the dealership is being a dick....go figure. I told him to just cut me a check for the $1098 and he was adamant about me finding the bumper I want online and send him an email.

Dude - do NOT be forced into going with OEM. You don't have to do that. Call your adjuster (things are always busy, press 0 if you get his/her voicemail for someone on his team) and tell them you want the payment for repairs. Even if they have already sent a payment to the Toyota dealership, tell them you want that canceled and wait for that to finalize and get payment sent to you. Then, do what you want. Pay the dealer to fix the quarterpanel per THEIR estimate and you take care of the bumper.

YOU run the show. Do not let the dealer force you into OEM again. And you dont' need to worry about USAA authorizing you to go with pelfrey/whatever. You make the call.

PM me if you have any questions....I know that process from all sides.

Don't worry....I'm not going OEM! I thought about last night and there's no way I'm not getting that $$$ to have this taken care of the way I want it. I appreciate the heads up! Good looking out for sure!

I had a lady hit me and it did not get into the body and it was about 1,500 to fix. I have a rear painted bumper. She was saying it was me that hit her. I was back out of the spot and was sideways

Well, after all said and done, I didn't pay a dime! The dealer is ordering an SOS rear bumper and essentially "waived" the deductible of $200. He kept telling me he couldn't just cut me a check for the $1089 because of some nonsense ( I just stopped listening to him....). I told him fine, order my bumper and since they are making $$$ off the insurance company anyways they can afford to not charge me the $200. They still ended up making money in the long run, but I'm getting my bumper of choice and no money out of pocket. Would I have liked that extra cash? Hell yea, but I won't be too greedy either. Now the wait of getting this bumper starts. I think I'm going to end up using white Monstaliner on it. Used it to line the tub of my Jeep and it turned out awesome!

Thanks to everybody that chimed in and gave advice. Regardless of people's opinions towards others advice/own experience's it was a real help!
