I'm inthe process of hooking it up to my Kenwood DDX512.

Is there a way to keep th unit on when not in reverse?

If I put the truck in reverse, I have to still press the NAV Button for like 2 seconds before the Rear picture comes on. I think that's a hassle. I feel the camera should come on when i put Truck in Reverse...

The manual even says to hit the nav bitton to go to Rear camera wtf?

i would think just supplying the camera with its own hot wire on a switch would do the trick that way you don't have to splice into your reverse wire for power. then you can just turn your camera on at a flick of a switch whenever you want in whatever gear you are in.

of course i've never tried it but with my limited knowledge of wiring, this makes the most sense to me.

I have the CCD2000 connected to a DNX-5120. The default settings on my 5120 does not engage the camera when in reverse. You have to go into the setup menus and enable that.

My guess is that yours is the same. Mine can also be turned on manually by holding the nav button. (My kids favorite game...watching cars behind us as we drive)
