Need info on the a340 transmissions

New to tacoma world! I lucked into a nice 02 double cab tacoma prerunner. I'm collecting parts to do a 4x4 swap on it I am finding a lot of conflicting info on the transmission. I know i need to swap the a340e out for a340f. There are plenty trannys for sale but a lot are from older toyotas, and some from t100s and 4runners. Some threads says any a340f will work no mater what it cone out of but other say diffrent. Im looking for a good source of info on them for what the difference between years and models are, if there is any.

 

The T100 and 3rd gen 4Runner all use the same drivetrain as the Tacoma. An A340 mated up to a 5vzfe V6. The bellhousing is the same regardless and I'm 90% sure the whole driveline from the engine to the rear end is the same.

 

What is your location? I got all the parts for your swap.

I got a motor/transmission/ecu/wire harness for sale in the 1st gen for sale section. I still need to remove the front differential and axles from truck.

We got a foot of snow last night, so I can't get to the truck for a couple weeks.

I'm guessing you needs drive shafts. I'll toss those in.

May not be exactly what you are looking for , its just info I have put together over the last little while

 

that is correct. NOW!! It depends on the year of the vehicle too. I have a 99 4Runner Trans and TC in my 02 Pre-runner from my conversion. I only had to swap the park/neutral safety switch from my 02 trans as the connectors were different. 03 and 04 transmissions are out, due to electronic throttle and no kickdown cable.

 

Koditten, dont go split the motor and trans quite yet. Right now the plan is some time around mid may to the first of june were coming up. Im not expecting for you 2 wait for me if you get an offer before then. But if you still have everthing avalible then, ill deffinatly buy the parts. How much do
you want for the trans and transfer case, front diff and axles, and both drive shafts?
