Ah man, once I start learning mig welding. Currently certifying in stick welding 7018 vertical up and once I finish that then its on to mig welding. Once I feel good in that then I'll probably bring the sliders to the shop and burn them on.

Nice! I'm gonna start learning to weld this summer and start fabbing up some stuff. Probably start with skids and move to a rear bumper

So this is me calling dibs :anonymous: unless I too have a rear bumper haha.

I'd like to do a hybrid type since my front is a hybrid. But I've always loved relentless

Mmmm, tire carrier. I've been trying to figure out where to put a spare tire without getting a swing-out or putting it in the bed. That's a nice bumper. I'll be looking forward to you building that.

Welding is a great skill to have for someone who loves tinkering with an off-road vehicle. I've been contemplating building a custom rear bumper as well. After I build a transfer case and transmission skid though

It's really not all that hard to do. You would be surprised how fast it all comes together.

A welder and an angle grinder can do alot of things.

    Plasma helps too:D

Yeah, I end up bringing a lot of material and projects to school so I can use the plasma cutter and MIG welder.

I have always wanted to take a metalshop class, but never have. I think there might be an Intro to Welding course here at the university and I want to take that just so I can become a better welder and learn about different metals

We have a class called Metallic Processes and it is exactly that, you learn about different metallic properties and learn about the different ways to join and separate them. Also some basic machining, using lathes and mills. I took it just so I could take the the welding course, we did some welding in metallic processes but I already was past that level so those projects took two class periods instead of the recommended five. I really like that once you take that class at my university you get general access to the shop anytime the building is open.

I recently got a new welder and plasma cutter. Haven't used the plasma at home yet, just at work since my compressor died.
