I recently purchased a set of 1st gen Tacoma Bilstein 5100 front and rears from Downsouth Motorsports. I also bought the optional dust boots. I am having problems with the dust boots. They popped out of the metal ring on top and are now pressed/stuck down on the shock body. It seems like there isn't enough clearance between the shock body and the inner diameter of the dust cover.

Has anyone else had similar issues with either 1st or 2nd gen applications?

Are these covers really made to be used on the 1st gen Tacomas or are they a 2nd gen product that only sort of works on 1st gens? I know Bilstein claims you don't need them but I would prefer to use them as my other set of 5100s (Tundra) started to leak within a short period of time.

    Thanks for all input.
