Probably shouldn't have gone to the bike shop today

So I went to the bike shop today to buy a new freewheel for my trek mountain bike. lol I ended up leaving with a new Trek 6000 series hardtail mountain bike they had on closeout for $700. Not a bad deal since it regularly goes for around $900. I was planning on getting a new bike in the spring but couldn't pass up this deal. Too bad its 30 something degrees today, I just rode it around the neighborhood and it's COLD! Its suppose to be warmer tomorrow so i'm gonna go hit the trails.

I got into mountain biking about a year and a half ago and bought a cheap trek 3700 for $300 new and I have beat that bike to death. I have been riding the advanced trails and that bike really isn't designed to take that sort of abuse.

This new one should last me a few more years until its time to upgrade again.

Great choice. I have a Trek 6500 Disc (appears to be pretty much the same bike as you) and it's taken a LOT of abuse over the past few years. All it needs is tune ups and new brake pads now and then. I love it, and I'm sure you will too!

 

I liked my 6000 until I got my Fuel Ex8 then it made me realize just how bad the Dart 3 on the 6000 felt compared to a higher level fork. Now I am looking to upgrade the fork on the 6000 or ditching the bike entirely.

 

Those damn impulse items they put by the cash register!

Yeah those cheaper bikes like your first one don't last very long with serious riders.

 

Sweet bike.. I was looking a jamis full suspensions last year.
I still have a trek 8700... from 1994.. Carbon fiber...
Got into BMx, And dirtbikes at that point. lol.
