Last year, my neighbors house was struck by lightning. He was sitting at his computer and the surge of electricity came through the mouse he was holding. The jolt surged through his body and excited from his toe - leaving a burn mark in his carpet and blood. He was very fortunate because his feet were on the ground and he was not wearing shoes. This enabled the lighting to pass through his body and into the floor. He had no other injuries besides being shaken up.

Now, anytime there is lighting in the area, I am super cautious while at the computer. I'll even hold my hand above the mouse when not using it. I even take off my shoes and keep my feet on the ground.

On BIG concern I have is at work. I wear a headset that is wired to the phone. In sales, I am on the phone a lot and cannot stop for thunderstorms. It seems that would be pretty damaging if the lightning traveled through the headset INTO MY HEAD! I think I may splurge on a bluetooth enabled headset in the near future!
