Hey Guys - I'm still new to the Tacoma World. Searched around in here, but most posts seem to be years old. If you have the time to read

I have a 2015 DCSB OR with auto tranny, and locking differential that I use for my daily drive, and she is still mostly stock - no lift yet, but it's in the near future. So this past weekend I went with a local offroad club. I should mention I live in Quito, Ecuador. Not a lot of rock crawling here, but the club hits some pretty serious mud holes. This is deep, thick marsh mud, with some pretty deep trenches that suck you into the ruts and don't let go. In some places no one could get through, and winches were required for recovery. Most of these guys had decent mud tires, like BFG and Toyo MT, but still no luck. Being stock with A/Ts, I had to sit it out, or go around wherever possible. That said, my Taco did pretty well with ATRAC on a few places I could not get around and had to plunge through.

So, in conjunction with my pending suspension lift, I'm looking at buying a dedicated extra set of aggressive mud tires and some decent quality but inexpensive wheels. The plan would be to change them out before a meet, then swap them back afterwards - a hassle, but I won't participate that often, maybe once a month.

I have been thinking 33" X 12.5 in either 15" or 16". I've been looking at Interco Super Swamper SSR or TSL radials. Would like to stay with a radial.

Also looking for some decent wheels, preferably hub-centric, 16X8 with enough back-spacing to avoid rubbing. From what I have read on here, it sounds like 4.5 BS should be sufficient.

There are probably a hundred things I didn't think of, which is why I am posting this. Any comments or suggestions from you guys with experience are welcome. Thanks!

Sounds cool. First off 15s wont fit. I have fn wheels which are cheap and durable. Maybe not for baja or rock crawling. If you ever do that save up for some beadlocks. If your going to have a dedicated set than its the ultimate way to get grip. Mswampers sound great for your application. Make sure to get 4.5 bs wheels because the swampers are wide, 12.5 and they will be close to your fenders if they fit at all. You will have some rubbing in this size.

Where do the guys in the club buy parts?

Hey 2nd Screen -Thanks for the response, I was beginning to wonder if I had leprosy. Just still new to this forum, and I read a lot more than I post. Thanks for the advice - Looking more closely at the tires available, and with what I want to do, I think I have it narrowed down to 2 choices. Super Swamper (Interco) SSR, or TrXus MT - both in 285/75/16. I thought I might post a poll to see what others think. I know I will need a lift to fit these, and still researching that.
Question for you - the SSR 285/75 state they are actually 33.9 X 11.4, and the TrXus are 32.7 x 11.2 - That seems like a big difference from the same manufacture for the same size tire. Is that normal? Do you think I will need to trim for either of these??

Good question about the local guys - They generally buy at local vendors, but things are expensive here, and it's cheaper for me to order from the US and ship it in. They also have a lot of fabrication work done for everything else - some of it good, some not so.

    Thanks and best wishes,
