Anyone have any experience with them? Looks like my steering rack is on it's way out and I'm going to need a new one. I really don't care to spend $500+ on a new OEM one. Have an email in for a quote.

Anyone know if they have a store front that I can pick it up there or do they have to ship it?

Unless someone has a the hookup on new OEM steering racks :D

Also check out Rack Doctor. They are oem rebuilt racks that I have heard good reviews on. They go for around $275 shipped I believe

    I'll take a look..

So far I've came up with these options:

New OEM (1 yr warranty $$$$)
Reman'd Dealer OEM (1 yr warranty)
Reman'd CVJ OEM (Ltd Lifetime warranty, wont cover for modified vehicles)
Safari LTD (2 yr unlimited mile warranty)
    Rack Dr. (lifetime warranty)

I just got a RD for my 4R, working great so far. As far as CVJ, they are a fantastic business, I get all my CVs and CV work done by them, fast and quality. I went with RD strictly for the price, which was ~$100 cheaper than CVJ.

Yea, the only thing is they wont cover the rack since my truck is lifted, has larger tires, etc... Not to say they'll really ever know, but I'd hate to risk that chance.

Which is annoying.. Why not offer an all around lifetime warranty if you're supposedly making products geared towards the offroad and racing industry.. This quote on their site is what gets me..

"CVJ's experience with power steering racks and pinion comes from over 2 decades of remanufacturing racks including custom and racing racks. We have developed performance processes that we use on all our racks. Whatever your rack needs we can help you out."

RD has the same type of disclaimer, but again, how would they prove it?

Just got an email back for my quote.. Apparently the racks only have a 3 year warranty and are voided if you do/have any modifications :(

But, otherwise I don't know how they would know.

Not sure how that would hold up, Toyota has to honor their vehicle warranties unless they can prove beyond doubt that the modification was solely responsible for the failure. Not sure how they are different.

    @CO MTN Steve

Manufacture warranty on Toyota steering racks from the dealer are only a year.. Not worth the price tag in my opinion. But I see what you're saying. Hard to prove a modified vehicle if you never see it. For places like CVJ or RD who ship multiple products out to many states can't necessarily prove your rig is modified unless you just flat out tell them.
