Sorry for your loss

 

I had to put her to sleep 3 days after this pic, her heart was giving out. She sleeps in an urn now in the living room. Dog was a trooper all the way to the end. Middle of the night she came to my bed side and told me it was time and it was ok. Still tugs at me everyday. Thanks for listening.

 

I specifically bought a cap for the truck for my dog I wouldn't let him ride in the box any other way. No cap = in cab

Just my 2 cents.

 

That just made me tear up...

It's rough. All of our dogs over the years are in different urns on the bookshelf. They were all different in their own way and each has its own place. They will never be forgotten and as much as it sucks when they pass, I couldn't imagine living in a household without a dog or a cat around. My wife and I currently have my shepherd, 2 pitbulls and 4 cats in the house. It would be eerily quiet without them.

All the time hahahah..........drives my wife batshit crazy hahaha

 

Yep, full blown conversation every night when I got home. New pup is real vocal and love to talk. They can learn about 100 words.

 

He's always sort of whining, grrring, or he comes and puts his head in your lap and just stares up into your eyes......he's kinda busy.....eventually he'll go lie down on the floor under my legs or he'll go sit in his Ikea chair that he likes but if I get up to go to the kitchen or anywhere else in the house he follows me like my shadow.

 

Sorry for your loss Mully. I lost the most amazing friend I've ever had in July. We new he was old, and his body was beginning to fail him, but when I took him to the vet that day, the idea that he wouldn't be coming home never entered my mind. Wish I could tell you when the hurting stops, but I haven't figured that part out yet. He rests in a simple wood urn. Nothing flashy, he was a practical German after all. Has his paw print and name laser etched into it. Had that same print tattooed so that he's with me forever.

I couldn't agree with you more. Got my 1st shep in1974. Have always had one or two at a time. I still here them say "where we're you" every time I come through the door. Best of the best friends ever.

Our new guy

So sweet, such a beautiful temperament. Can't believe somebody surrendered him, but their lose is definitely our gain. Happiest I've been in months. He was pretty sick (K9 pneumonia) when he arrived in Calgary from California. He'll have been with us a month tomorrow. He helps the heart heal. A lot of fun to be around.

 

Beautiful, and I like his couch.

 

He knows he is in a better place under your roof.....

 

Sharing and hearing from others helps with the healing. Thank you for sharing your story.

 

I am going home now and give my dogs a big hug 1st, then the wife second. Nite.

 

He's in for the best life we can possibly give him. Truck rides (in the cab only), walks, hikes, summers at the lake, boat rides...just every experience we can possibly share with him and our other dogs.

 

Seeing all these German shepards makes me want one. I've just been around labs all my life really. How are they compared to a lab?
