Hey guys this might be along shot or just cost way to much freaking money but what would it take to convert my 4x4 Trd sport double cab long bed to have the Toyota locking rear differential and crawl control. The end game is to build an as near oem Trd pro Tacoma (but with a long bed)

It would be a whole lot easier to just get a DCLB offroad and make it look like a Sport.

Honestly, you don't NEED crawl control, you can wheel without it. Just toss a locker into your sport.

Yeah I figured as much but that ship has sailed so I was just curious if anyone out there really knew what it would take to make it work.

I'd be interested to see if someone knows all the details. But I can't imagine how difficult it'd be lol. Gotta get the wiring, all the stuff on the ceiling, who knows what all electronics you'd need lol.

Would Toyota even install something like this? I feel like they wouldn't. And if anything went wrong related to it you'd be voided anyway. (Magnuson v Moss act)

But in all seriousness, since your truck is still so new, it wouldn't hurt to see what they'd give you on trade for an Offroad.

Wire harnesses, electronic brake actuator, locking diff, rear axle housing. Just there alone is well over $5000 and thats not all of it. Trade it on a O/R package truck and buy the hood scoop.

I'm sure swapping in an off road rear axel with the diff lock from a totaled Or wouldn't be too hard. Not sure if the ECU would accept it or not.

Unless you're sitting on money you're tired of lighting on fire all day, I don't know why you'd consider this.

It would cost a ton, it WOULD void your warranties, and your resale value would be in the shitter - and the only people who would know or care what you have (a long bed TRD Pro) are guys on Tacoma websites and you.

Just because you use Toyota parts to hack up and Frankenstein your truck doesn't mean Toyota built it and assembled it, and did all the modification work to your specific truck to add those "extra" parts.

Anything you screw up is on your dime to repair, period.

Just get a locking diff - don't they sell kits??? I thought I saw one or 2 available for the 2016 model already in both sizes - manual and automatic. Skip the crawl control - thats the no go for a swap. Electronics and I think the brake master cylinder is different too!
