New guy here . I have had a 84 toyota pickup back in the day and it was unstoppable but there was nothing left of the rusted body by 89 from the southern Wi. salt. Before and since then a full sized ford , chevy's,when gas was always cheap, and a 98 Dodge since new till now when wanting to trade it in on a Toyota.
Skip down to avoid boring history !!

69 Chevy C10 - 12 mpg. 79 Chevy C30 9 mpg , 84 Chevy C20 diesel 16 mpg and a pain in the a"", brand new 89 ford ranger 4 cyl. ( could not get out of it's own way )brand new 91 Ford 4x4 strait 6 cyl. 15 mpg ( gave it back to the dealer under the lemon law- pos ),
87 chevy C30 4x4 ( great truck ! 9 mpg. ) finally my 98 Dodge 1500 . Shes is still a great truck and has had only minor problems but only has 63K as of now , 12 mpg but if you drive 55 on a flat highway ( find a flat freeway to make it worth while)

I want a new truck to be dependable , get at least 17 + mpg empty (not towing) for over the road traveling , be able to tow 4500 lbs boat for local fishing ,have 4x4 for gravel roads and mud here in northern Arkansas , and fit in the garage .

I am and have always been impressed with toyota's reputation . I am not a fan of the longevity of fords turbos (read about the carbon problems with direct injection ) . I am not a fan of start stop , or chevys running on 1/2 of the cylinders ,it would be nice if it rotated the opposite 4 cylinders to create equal wear . ) Also Reading from Fuelly for gas mileage , real mileage for all these features and trucks , they are no better than toyotas 3.5 . I LIKE the fact that the 3.5 L has both direct and port injection ! If ! this "really works" , this cleans the back side of the valves and solves the carbon problems from direct injection ?.

I placed and order for a 2016 TRD off road DC in the Long box . What I want is 4x4 ,mud flaps and the Tech package with the towing package all in Sky Silver.
I want silver since it will have to be really mudded to look dirty. I want (tech package)just to get the BSM and cross traffic because I want a topper / cap on it and will tow . I want the Nav feature because we have gotten spoiled with it in our other cars . (the wife insists on nav.)
Ordered 2-23-16 . Have not heard from dealer as of yet , 3/10 16
