Lift Kits without body trimming?

    Hey guys, quick question. I know for a fact that nearly every Tacoma on this forum has some sort of lift kit installed! And currently, I'm considering installing a 3" lift during this summer when I'm working and not so busy with school. So I was wondering, is there any way to get around the body trimming when you put on the lift kit? I currently have a 2011 with 265/65/17 (not sure how accurate this is, I'm away from my truck right now but I can check next week when I'm home.) on the stock rims. I was thinking I could probably get away with it if I stick with those tires but I'm not sure how it would look?.. What are you guys running/recommending? If bigger tires would look better, I'm open to buying different ones down the road, but a)I really don't want to have to trim, and b)I really don't want to have to buy new rims. If wheel spacers will work I am open to buying new ones, but I've heard a lot of horror stories with these...

    I have a stock truck.

    Why would you have to trim if you lift your truck and run stock rims and tires ?

    Typically guys run a 3" lift and run 285/75/17 and as long as your not wheeling it all you have to do is take off the front mud flaps

    Do some reading there's lots of info here

    Really??? Not trying to discredit you at all, if that is true then that's awesome news cause that's exactly what I wanted, It's just that every thing I've ever read claims that running a tire that size requires extensive trimming to the inner fender

    typical tire size with lift is either 265/70r17 or 285 70r17. I have a 2.5" lift with the 285's and had to trim a decent amount and do the cab mount chop. I also don't wheel much at all. If you don't want to trim at all then go with the 265's.

    Might want to consider uca's as well to get a better alignment on the caster

    Cool man thanks, I dig your build btw.
    I've been told that a couple times as well. Are there any good quality ones you would recommend that aren't going to break the bank? And would it be OK if I wait say a month or two after putting on the lift kit on to get these?

    I hear light racing uca's are good and are cost effective. And of course you have total chaos, icon uca's that are really great but they are more expensive. I personally run the icon ucas and my alignment it great. You can run stock uca's for the moment it won't hurt. But your alignment won't be great

    OME 887 lift, 16" XD addicts, 285 duratracs, leather seats, badass JL/Focal stereo
    You wont need to do any trimming or remove the mudflaps if you stick with 265s. The body trimming and all that is for 285s or bigger. If you stick to 265s, wheel specs shouldn't matter either so no need for wheel spacers. Everything you are worried about all comes as a result of changing to 285s, so do not do that and you will be fine.

    As others have pointed out, you wont be able to get a flawless alignment at 2.5" of lift or higher unless you get UCAs. Light Racing UCAs are the cheapest quality product.

    well said about the alignment. I'm at 2.5" with stock uca's. My alignment isn't the best but it is within spec. I'd like to get new uca's but like the op I'm in school still so truck funds are pretty tight. So imo op would be fine waiting
