I'm looking into purchasing your Stage 2 lift. One, is that the one i should get? I have a DCLB TRD sport with the tow package. Im looking for a smooth plush ride. Also, I want to get the largest tire for the size of the lift. will a 305/70R17 fit??

    Thanks

I will leave the overall kit suggestions to the members or preferred vendors, but will give you a few stage features and speak on the tire size. Something with the stages is when considering you should really try and think first about what you are going to do with the truck. Stage 2 will be good to get the larger tire and work great both on and off road for the basic user offering plenty of performance. For the avid off-roader to Extremest using the truck hard often the advantage to using a Stage with uniball upper control arms (billet or tubular) not only offers you strength, but allows you to run extended travel coilover's. These will offer additional droop travel which you lose as you add lift height using a coilover shock. With the standard coilover at around 3" of lift you may have a 20/80 split of available droop to bump travel, where with the extended travel versions you can get back to a better 40/60 split. Looking at the tire height you are suggesting (depending on actual tire mfg in general is 33.82 x 12 x 17), that will take some trimming and fitting to work with out constant rubbing. I have seen them used, but they are starting to push the limit. On our 2012 Tacoma we have the 285/70/17 Nitto Trail Grappler M/T's and they did take some minor trimming but work well. We have hit the top of the fender under full compression as well as rubbed the back side if the fender. Here is a picture so you can see the look. In my opinion it is very proportional and looks great.

I have the Icon Stage 2 and did a shit ton of trimming and cab chops and hammering the pinch welds to get 285s to fit without rubbing while off roading. If you are going 305s then be prepared to do a ton of trimming and hammering and cutting.

I was looking at the description of the Stage 2 kit and the recommended tire size is a 285/75/16. I assume this is recommended due to ratio of lift to tire size and can only assume there will be no rubbing it trimming... Just trying to figure out a game plan of wheel set up as I go into my suspension purchase at the same time.

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
@motoaction22 you're gonna rub with a tire that size. It's gonna happen. All you can do is minimize it with a 2-3" lift and cutting/etc. From hitting the upper arm, to hitting the pinch weld, to hitting the fender flares, to hitting the front bumper, eating a mud flap... there's just about every single angle something soft and easy to chew up waiting for your tire. Easiest way to fit a tire like that is going up and out as well. Which will make your fender more likely to get hit, then you need fender flares, etc.
