OBA -> On Board Air Mega Thread & BS

Ok I'll check that out. Ya I noticed the difference. I'm just using this for airing up and the locker. No tank

 

For anyone wanting to mount their ARB dual behind the rear seat..


Excuse the dust, never got around to cleaning it after last summer..
Mounted to an aluminum plate
T fitting with lockers/manifold on one end and the tire hose on the other
Red hose is hear resistant, about 2 maybe 3ft long, then the Orange ARB hose connects to that.

 

Not sure what you meant with the first question. As I said, the coupler was installed similarly to what you did.

I'm using a Power Tank (it uses liquid CO2 , no compressor necessary)

 

Hey guys was hoping for some input on a compressor. Plan is front and rear lockers and ability to air up tires of course. Plan was to get the

$600 ckmta12 '12V' on-board twin high performance air compressor, ideal for air lockers locking differentials, tire inflator, air horn, air tools and pneumatic tools.

ckmta12 but was wondering if the

$310 ckma12 on-board air compressor high performance 12 volt for air locker differentials and tire inflation

ckma12 would be okay for this? Don't think I'd run air tools off of it but that may change.

Screwed over a lot of people by not providing a product after they paid for it. There's a thread on it so no need to muddy this one up anymore

I ordered my tank, lives, and some fittings. Kind of going to do my own version of Nate's. Though for now I'll only have the single arb but I'm curious to see how it'll perform with a tank

 

Well done. I am doing the same. But I ripped the bin out and sound treated / deadened that space. I'm almost done.

Question for you, did you route +12v power through the firewall? What did you use for ground. Thanks.

 

Figured, but disappointed to discover the power wires are not long enough to make it to the battery with that location.
I too pulled the plastic cubby out. Did not notice a difference in noise or a change in the sound system (oem Sub). I was thinking of leaving it out to add a little more space for airflow and tool storage as well as slightly easier mounting.

 

I'm going to cut up the ARB wiring, no sweat there. I found some welding cable, 4 AWG, 25' for cheap. I'm so happy.

I'm just not sure if I'm going to run it along the frame rail, then up into the cab, or run it through engine firewall, and along the door sills trays.

 

Same here. Thinking maybe today is not the best day for me to work on it. Think I'll wait till the weekend.

Are you running the welding cable back near the compressor and then incorporating a power distribution block?

 

Finally getting all my oba parts. Arb pressure switch. Mv50. Arb compressor rocker switch. Viair manifold. 125 psi safety valve. 2.5 g tank. One way check valve between the seperstor and manifold. Arb locker also going to manifold

I'm planning on running the hose from the compressor to the manifold. Then one of the lines goes from manifold to front bumper (quick connect) and another line runs to the tank. Then from the tank to the rear bumper (quick connect) think this will be okay??

Why don't you want both lines, going to the bumpers, to come from the air tank? Other than that i think it'll be good.

Yup the power lines are ran through the firewall, and grounded in the engine bay.

 

Then I would have to run a air hose to the back of the truck. Then all the way back to the front again. Compressor and manifold are going to be under the hood

The pressure switch is 90 on 105 off I think.

Just using for airing up tires and Arb locker

 

Ohh gotcha. Didn't see the compressor was going in the engine bay

 

I have very limited space under the hood. Thinking about mounting it behind the grill now

 

Got a start on the oba

 

Well fark. Ordered a 5 gal tank that others had ordered. Planned to put it where pretty much everyone else has theirs (by the bumper). So go to mock it up and crap it doesnt fit there lol. The all pro rear bumper's trailer hitch bracket is in the way.

Played around a tiny bit on other possibly places and it looks like it could fit in front of the axle but then its rather close to the exhaust. (same spot Nate87 mount his compressor)

So now Im trying to figure out what Ill do. Im actually considering cutting out the spare tire crap and welding a single cross member there instead which would actually give quite a bit more space.
