Hey everybody! Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Ryan. 31 years old, living in L.A.

About 10 years ago I had a 2wd Prerunner that I loved to death, but used to get stuck in it left and right trying to pretend like it was a 4x4. I swore that one day I'd get myself one, and after several years of driving commuter cars while attending school and getting my career off the ground, I'm finally behind the wheel of my dream truck.

Last night I saw an ad on Autotrader listing a used 2004 Tacoma 4x4, V6 with TRD package...I clicked on it expecting to find 100k+ miles on it, as is the norm for these older Tacos. Much to my surprise, it only had 26,000...so naturally I contacted the dealer asap and headed out there first thing this morning to take a look.

Of course, I ended up with it! Probably paid a bit more than I should have but after many months of looking the one thing I've noticed with these trucks is that they retain their value extraordinarily well and are hard to 'talk down'. Fortunately, I got a decent deal on my trade-in and financing on the rest.

I don't have many off-road buddies anymore but I'm hoping to become a regular here and join local meet-ups down the line. I used to frequent Yotatech way back in the day, but that site seems to have less people around these days.

Anyway, I've attached a pic...she's still at the dealer for a few more days while they clean her up and perform a few maintenance duties. See you guys around!

    Ryan

Wow only 26K on it. I'd say you scored as long as it was stored properly. Welcome to TW

    Thanks!

It drove well and the paint is immaculate, the inside of the bed looks like it was never used. Only strange thing to me was that there was a TRD supercharger installed, for a truck with so few miles. It was done by Toyota, but I'm having them remove it (I know I know, I'm crazy) and restore it to stock, because I need to watch my MPG and don't want to have to buy premium fuel. The V6 has more than enough power for what I need it for.

Anyhow, the carfax was clean as a whistle and to be safe I have a Toyota warranty for awhile, just to make sure. Thanks for the welcome!

I didn't snap any shots of the engine bay unfortunately, but it looked clean, sounded good, idled fine. I checked underneath for rust and anything unusual, the skid plate had a few skids on it but nothing out of the ordinary. It spent most of it's time out in Arizona.

But yeah, that's almost entirely why I got the bumper to bumper warranty for the time being, in case anything surfaces.

I do own it but it had just been brought in the night before I bought it, they're keeping a couple days to perform regular maintenance and wash it.

It came to just under $20k taxes and title included, also including replacing the supercharger parts with stock ones.

Believe me, I'd love to keep the supercharger (it was a hell of a lot of fun to test drive lol), but its just not practical for me. I live in southern California where gas (and everything else lol) is expensive and going back up, MPG is an important factor for me.

Will do! I'm finally getting the truck next week, they had to wait on stock 3.4l parts, which I guess aren't as common anymore lol.

Pretty sure they're supposed to be leaving the supercharger with me, I'll ask and I'll let you know if they do.
