Cat converter rattle 2013 V6 DCSB

Hey guys need help. I've been getting a rattle coming from my Cat converter. Thought it was the heat shield so I took it off and it appears the rattle is coming from inside the cat. When I bang the cat it sounds like the stuff in the cat came loose. I just hit 36,200 miles so my warranty jus ended. I heard there is a 8 year 80,000 mile warranty on emission parts. Question is do you guys think Servco will fix it even if I put exhaust from the axle back? Also is it okay to drive the truck without the heat shield? Or do you guys know of any other options? Your cat is bad, same thing happened to me at about 36 as well I took it to a muffler shop and he told me the cat was bad and so I took it to the dealership and they took care of it for me. I had an aftermarket exhaust on it and they said they'd still fix it I believe they said cats have a separate warranty if I'm not mistaken but then again I could be but I'd definitely take it in. Hopefully this helped.

 

Did your check engine light have to be on? My light isn't on yet. I really appreciate the response. I been stressing all day. Was this in Hawaii?

 

No check engine light wasn't on and no I'm in CA I was driving in the highway and suddenly I felt my exhaust was making lots of noise but had loss of power so I pulled over did some tapping to the cat and sure enough it was rattling the muffler guy I took it to said the internals just broke into tiny peices and that the only way to fix was a new cat

 

I hope I don't have any issues. Only reason I ask location is cuz I know Cali has strict emission laws and I see Toyota fixing it with no fuss due to the laws. Evertime I go dealership here get issues.

 

Hey SoCal is yours a v6 or 4 banger? I just read a recall for the cars on the 4 bangers for 2010 to 2014 models.

 

Yeah also has crazy emission laws but I mean they should fix it if you do end up needing a replacement
