Replaced my timing belt, water pump, thermostat, idlers, tensioner and drive belts earlier this week. I'm the 2nd owner at 109k. Original owner had a water pump leak he had to fix at 47k. Other then that he had no issues.
Based on the recommendation of other members here figured I'd better do it as it was past 100k. What I did notice is he used RTV on the water pump back then as gaskets weren't on the market yet.
I was extremely surprised at the condition of everything when I tore it down. Timing belt still looked new. Idlers all turned nice and smooth. Water pump still in mint condition. Drive belts minor cracking.
Had to use the starter bump method to get the crank bolt off. Took the cover off my starter relay under the hood and used a 90 degree type dental pick to close the contact for the relay. Took a couple of bumps and the bolt broke free no problem by visually watching it. That way I didn't have to use the ignition key. Worked out great as I was by myself performing the work.
Bought the kit from aircabinman on eBay. Excellent OEM kit by the way.

Anyway the original owner babied this truck and I could have run it close to 200k with original belt and associated parts. Ended up saving everything as spares. Took about 6hrs start to finish with taking my time for a newbie 3.4L owner. Way easier to perform then a timing belt on a VW TDI. Lol.

Thanks to the forum found all the info I needed. Did my research ahead of time.
