I have a Black Tacoma with badges, grille and bumper all powder coated black. Can't decide if I want the Black or Gunmetal Level 8s... Both look awesome! Would be 16 x 8 -10 offset.

I'm running the 16" OEM steel wheels right now. Need to get new tires and would like to change the wheels. Trying to stay close to stock so going with the 16x8, most likely 0 offset. Plan to switch from 245/75/16 to 265/70/16.

So are new lug nuts actually required?

Also, has anyone directly compared the 0 offset with the -10? Just looking thru this thread there really doesn't look like much difference between them.

Honesty, not a huge difference between the two in offset... -10 sticks out maybe half an inch more, hardly noticeable to the eye...

Did some research and finally found the offset for the OEM steel wheels. Its +35mm and the wheel is a 16x7. I used an online backspacing calculator to get the numbers for the steel wheel and the two 16x8 Level 8 wheels. I took an online graphic (hopefully no copyright issue) into photoshop and added the numbers to it. Its helped me to "see" the difference in the three wheels. I found a couple of things interesting. The 0 offset MK6 has backspacing that's closer to the OEM but either Level 8 wheel is going to stick out quite a bit more than OEM. And as Rippin101 mentioned, the -10 offset sticks out less than a 1/2" more than the 0 offset.

Got my wheels today inside the box was the center cap an I guess a hub centric ring. I don't need the ring for install on the Tacoma do I?

Yes, new lugs are definitely required. You need small diameter spline drive EXTENDED lug nuts. I had to actually buy two sets because initially I really wanted black chrome nuts and failed to realize I needed extended nuts.

A set of these, plus a set of 4 locking nuts, works great.

This is awesome but now I am lost and not good at math. I am putting on 285/70/17 tires. Which one of these should I get if I don't want tires to stick out past the fender?...

    17 X8 6-139.70 -10 GYMTXX

This is awesome really appreciate it. So does this mean that the Level 8 -10 offset stick out 2.57 inches more than the OEMs? 4.89 - 2.32?

This post makes me worry. Discount tire sold me these lugs and said they would work with my Tacoma but that goes against what yours saying does anyone have any other input? Before I got an get my tires swapped over an they don't work

They will technically hold the wheel on, but only engage a few threads. You definitely won't get the recommended guideline of thread contact. Rule of thumb is that you need thread contact that equals the diameter of bolt. So, for a 1/2" bolt you should have 1/2" of thread engagement. I drove for a couple days with those acorn nuts but only until my Amazon order showed up. It freaked me out when the acorn nuts bottomed out after like a revolution and a half. I wasn't going to trust them to hold my wheels on at 75 mph, or over washboard dirt roads.

I'm trying to wade thru and understand this stuff myself. I would guess that the section cut for both the 16 and 17 are the same if they're the same width and offset. Are you sure about the 6-114.30 bolt pattern? I thought we had to stick with 6-139.70.

I would assume that's correct. I did the graphic just to help me understand all these options and numbers. I haven't really looked at and compared these wheels in real life. I have verified the backspacing on my steel wheels though. It matches the number in the graphic, a little more than 5 1/8". Looking at my truck, the wheels are tucked under the fenders and photos in this thread do look like they stick out more.

So the consensus on this is the lugs from Discount Tire fit but don't properly tighten so the ET lugs are the way to go.

2015 DCSB TRDOR - Silver Sky

I just took advantage of the Ebay store for Discount Tires Direct. I bought these Level 8 MK6 wheels in Satin Black, 16X8 with 0 offset, 4.5 backspacing. I also bought new Goodyear Wrangler MT/Rs with Kevlar in 285/75 R16. Saved $300 using the discount code. Now I am looking for the right lugs and center caps.

Would these Extended Thread lugs work?
    http://www.amazon.com/Premium-DPAcc...7198&sr=1-6&keywords=lug+nuts+extended+thread

Any other suggested lug nuts? Would like to stick with black to match the wheels.

Anyone have a link to BLACK TRD center caps that will work with these wheels?

I saw the silver center caps - TRD part number PTR18-35092 - Anybody have measurements?

    Thanks in advance
