Oil change

I have had 3 oil changes under the 25,000 24month coverage that Toyota offers on all new vehicles, however on the most recent oil change, I had 13,550 miles on my Tacoma. When they changed the oil, they put a sticker in the window showing the next oil change would be at 20,000 miles. What is up with that? It supposed to be every5,000 miles or 6 months. Is anyone else running into this where they are bumping the mileage for the next oil change?

 

Do yourself a favor. Remove the sticker, order a 10 pack of filters and do your own oil changes with the oil of your choice.

Going to 20 K would most likely be fine, but they're trying to keep you at 5 K intervals. If they want to encourage you to go an extra 2.5 K miles, then you don't want them servicing your truck.

I think they might just be doing that to make it easier for everybody to keep track of. If they used a good synthetic, 7,500mi OCI should be no problem. Any reason why you didn't want to wait till 15,000 miles?

And yes, the oil and filter should be changed every 5K/6 months

 

They're not using synthetic for the 5 K oil changes, unless you request it and pay extra $$. It's cheaper to DIY if you want syn.

Oh, and add a Fumoto oil change valve while you're down there.
