Personally, I like the 2012+ front end better than the 2005-2011. Having a 2011 prerunner before and upgrading to a 2015 made me pretty happy. Can't wait to get my LT build started next month!

Really the only way to answer that question is install your CV's and let it droop and try to spin the tire by hand, if the CV is going to bind you will feel it with your bare hands on the tire. While it is drooped turn the wheel lock to lock and do the same. If it does bind at all then you simply need to add some limit straps

Good to know. I'm on my fourth axle in 2 months. Learned not to boost launch in 4wd. Doesn't fare well with the oe tundra axles.

    Hey guys,
Quick question. Does $1000 for a pair of freshly rebuilt King 14" triples sound fair? Think they're around $1400-1500 new.
    Thanks

I'm fishing a bit here. I like that body style too and I'm thinking...let's say you're a guy with a 1st Gen and you think it would be cool to make your truck look a little more modern...like say a 2012-2015...it would be cool to have a fiberglass product that would convert a 1st Gen to a Whatever That Is Gen...LOL.

Isn't the 3.5L supposed to have more HP and torque than the 4.0?

    ALL OF THEM!...Then some more.
Please don't do that..I don't think any front fiberglass clip swap looks good. If you want it to be a 2nd gen, shoulda got one imo. Then you could at least reap the benefits on the bigger motor.

The 3.5l makes more power and torque but the power and torque curve is very different.

    ...too much shit to list.
3.5 has more HP but less torque

Appreciate your input regarding your thoughts on cosmetics. The "no's" really don't matter at the end of the day. It's really a matter of taste and cool if you don't like this one or that one. What ultimately matters in the end is determining whether or not there would be enough "yeses" to make it worthwhile to a company to do.

My truck has a Tundra conversion clip on it and with all due respect, I think it looks just fine.

I think the TPF race truck would look awesome with that front clip. Theoretically speaking that is. :D

As much as I wanted more out of the 4.0L I think it's a good motor for an off-road truck especially with a good intake, exhaust, and headers. "Most" guys with a 2nd Gen/4.0L will run out of suspension long before they run out of motor. I know I did when running a TC LT kit and DMZ rear kit. For those few guys running race kits and/or are linked in the rear, I could see them wanting more out of the 4.0.

There is a method to the madness that goes beyond pure cosmetics but that's part of it. The bottom line is I can't afford to ditch my truck now and drop $30K plus in to a new model, then tear THAT up and try to make it raceable. But I could MAYBE make our truck look pretty darn close to a recent year model and if we can do that and draw the right attention it could be meaningful to more folks than just us.

I think I'm sold either way moving away from the Tundra conversion kit partly because I beat ours up and partly because I have a desire to return the truck to a Tacoma looking truck. If we can't make a newer conversion work we might just go with a slightly older but still newer conversion and see where that leads us. But truth be told I'm not a brand fanatic but I love our truck and appreciate the reliability we get out of Toyota as a brand. I don't really spend a lot of time looking at other Tacoma models, etc so I find this place in particular to be a good resource for gauging opinions, getting info, etc.

Your toyota is a fish out of water in a driveway full of fords when it comes down to it Jason! LOL

When it comes to conversion clips... I personally don't think most of them look bad at all. I'm not a fan of the lets make every ford that exists a raptor trend and I've never been a fan of that one toyota clip with the fenders that swoop above the hood line but other then those, I think the conversion clips typically look pretty good.

Kevin's conversion from pre tacoma pickup to whatever Gen tacoma clip this is for instance IMO looks clean!

I still think though if you could get a conversion to the '15+ it would look great as well and I if that's something that could be pulled off I personally think it's the way to go!

I wanted to fit the 1st gen tundra conversion clip on my 2nd gen tacoma, I think it would actually look pretty cool and definitely different

Disregard my original...so that's the 1st Gen to 2nd Gen 05-11 conversion from FB. Which is a possibility. But I'm thinking even more modern than that, as noted the 12-15ish style. There's really nothing on the market that matches that and maybe for good reason if there is no interest. But if there were interest....LOL!
