    Hi All,

I have a 2011 Tacoma sport doublecab that I bought used. To make a long story short, I was recently told by a mechanic that the exhaust on my truck is essentially a homemade system created by the first owner with a few welded pipes and a cherry bomb to make it loud.

I want to get a legit aftermarket cat back exhaust system, but I'm sick of the loud constant drone that I have now (trying to talk over the exhaust noise, having to blast music, etc etc). The problem is that all of the cat back systems I have found online are designed to be loud.

I don't mind a moderate tone, but are there any cat back systems I can get that are on the quieter side??

Apologies if this is a repeat post; I couldn't find a similar thread.

I would say TRD cat back or any aftermarket cat back with a resonator (Vibrant Ultra Quiet). Or have stock muffler cut out and an aftermarket muffler welded in and also add a resonator.

I have a Magnaflow 15315 and added a Vibrant Resonator to it. It's quiet, no drone, and my wife didn't even know I put an exhaust on my Tacoma. Smashing the gas, you can hear it, but it's also nice and quiet on the highway.

+1 for the Vibrant ultra quiet resonator. It tame the sound and reduce the drone a lot. You install it between the flange and the muffler

Another 1 up on the vibrant. Paired with a borla pro xs and I LOVE it. Think trd cat back is Pretty much the same tone as borla too btw. Its almost too quiet for my liking. Probably be just fine without a rez. But you may also be able to get away with just having a muffler of your choice as well as a rez for pretty cheap compared to going full cat back. But hearing you say "homemade with a few welded pipes" makes me think you might be better off doing a new cat back. Depending on how well the previous install was, as far as quality of welds and whatnot, sounds like it may not be the best.
