    Hi i am planning on regearing my tacoma with 4.56 gears but i have no idea if my differential is a 8.0 or 7.5....i have a 1998 tacoma 3rz 4x4 not trd...thanks

    Gonna be a 8.3 I have the same truck and just did a 3rd member swap I believe the 7.5 was 2wd If I'm not mistaking

    Your front diff is a 7.5" IFS type diff. Totally different from the rear.

    You do not have the 8.0 diff in the rear unless you have the elocker.

    For the open (factory no locker) rear diffs on 1st gens, the ring gear is referred to as an 8.4". The front is a high pinion (sometimes referred to as a reverse) 7.5".

    Front is 7.5. Rear is the 8.4 NOTE: its often listed as an 8". Just make sure it says without elocker
