Truck Camping Photo Thread

Still snow at a lot of the lakes I frequent. The nice thing though is a couple of them are completely off the beaten path so even in prime camping season we usually get the lake to ourselves.

 

well that's always nice. no matter where we end up, if its in the "camping season" there tends to be a bunch of loud people that litter like crazy and are just rude in general around here. hence why we do all of our camping in the winter.

 

Figured this thread needed some new photos, the tailgate was used as a cutting board, stovetop, dinner table, lounge chair.
This was from Tierra del Sol last weekend
The relentless fab tailgate reinforcement helps out so much with the flat surface and heavy duty status of it.
Also have the led lights from Matt Gecko which was perfect for tailgate/kitchen lighting

 

Where in BC are you?
I plan on taking a trip next weekend, rain, snow or shine.

Just gotta pack lots of firewood and the chainsaw

Over in Merritt. The snow is all cleared up here, but some of the lakes I like to hit are higher elevation. That being said I am getting the itch to get out camping soon so might like you say just pack a lot of firewood and dress warm lol

 

Nice, you are nice and close to lots of good lakes. I love Peter Hope Lake. Been there a few times in the Tacoma. I think next time I'm up that way I'm going to try fishing Plateau Lake . Checked it out on the bike last summer, road isn't as bad as I remember it being.

 

Yep exactly, no shortage of lakes around here. A lot of people like to hit the main lakes like Boss & Davis up in Kane Valley but the problem is they just get so busy. I tried it out last year and every site got filled up by midday Saturday. Although I will admit if you are into biking or quading there are a ton of great trails out that way.

My favorite is one called Roscoe lake which is not too well known, off the beaten path and no signs guiding you to it. My daughter loves it, the fish will fight over a bare hook there lol. Almost always get the lake to ourselves when we go there.

course, you are in South Carolina... Camping in winter is a bit easier there than it is out here. That being said, my Rack for my RTT will be done next Friday so I'm going camping!



but camping in Colorado is a gamble in the spring... it was 70 on Tuesday...
