I currently have OME 885s with sport shocks up front and Boss shocks with AAL in the rear. I'm not too happy with the amount of travel I get for off road use and the much discussed "over speed bump goes clank" issue is driving me nuts. I don't want to buy a whole new kit, so I want to know if I switch out the front shocks/struts with an extended travel such as Icon, and keep the OME coils, will that
    1) solve my problem, and
    2) be feasible
Any advice is welcome and appreciated.

Those coils as far as I know will not fit on any coilover set up, if you do go to icon, fox, ADS, or the new OME coilovers they will come with a set on there that you can adjust to your liking.

The clank is from the nitro shocks rebounding way too fast is all and to honestly fix it you can either get the 5100 billies or go to a true coilover not the strut setup

Can't use them on other brand coilovers.

Replacing the shocks with 5100s or similar will get rid of the clank issues.

Can you explain though why the OME setup is not a true coilover?

They are not adjustable in any way, the coil spring just sits there in the perch as a strut does. the true coilovers can adjust the preload for height and some the rebound of the shock themselves.

I have the same setup as you just with the heavier springs and really wish I would of went to the coilover first for mid travel. don't get me wrong the OME kit is awesome for what you pay

Gotcha. Once assembled it looks like a coilover so I always thought it was the same thing.

I went with this setup because it was a cost effective means of achieving the desired lift without sacrificing ride quality.

Again, thanks for the quick reply!

Totally was in the same boat and I am not complaining with the lift, it has done everything I have asked it to do and more

I love my OME setup. Dakars are quite literally my best mod, my freeway ride is awesome, my around town ride isn't much different than stock.

The thud I hear going over speed bumps only happens on my passenger side shock, though. There is a speed bump in my housing community and coming or going, the thud is only on the passenger side. So it almost makes me think the strut or spring was installed wrong. Could this be? Thoughts ?

I think I'm just gonna wait and replace the whole front suspension with Fox or Icon
