    MrMarv,
I am about to drop a new Kenwood head unit in my truck and want to make sure I can get the most out of it. What solutions do you think we could come up with to put a single 8" or 10" sub in a 2010 doubecab?

I am not looking for big hitting bass that can be heard down the road, I am simply looking to make sure that I can reproduce all the low frequencies. I generally listen to thrash metal.

I would PREFER a compact solution that can fit entirely behind the driver-side seat, but that isn't a line-in-the-sand kind of deal.

You seem to be the expert. Any thoughts?

I spoke with Mr Marv as well. He Can not respond to your question since He is Currently building my box...lol :p

He suggested that I go with the ARC Audio KAR10" since i'm on a limited budget. But! after reading the special TEST Report where teh KAR 10's came out on top, I'm sold...

    The Arc Audio
KAR10D was a pleasant surprise, delivering good
overall tonal quality and dynamics without giving up
much ground in output to the Crossfire.

You have a very limited amount of space available on the drivers side so it's difficult to provide an "all in one" solution however I have just designed a compact enclosure/amp rack to fit there which will incorporate an 8" or tiny airspace capable 10" sub along with an ARC Audio "mini" amp. The main drawbacks are limited sub choice and the amp is a bit pricey.

If you didn't mind using the drivers side the following is my most popular "all in one" design that requires the least modification. It is shown without the trim however some will cut the pastic below the brace and re-install the outer shell for a more finished look (others just carpet the back wall).

Also, you will find numerous designs I have done in the Tacoma sub albums at the photobucket link in my signature below. Since I custom build each one for the specific application you are not limited to these so if you have something else in mind let me know and I will design it for you.

Yours and about 30 others! BTW, we are actually installing the "ARC" series 10" in your truck which is the next step up from the KAR since your budget wasn't quite as limited as some. :D
