Howdy, I have a 99 TRD 5spd and i'm having issues when driving through puddles, not like runoff puddles but like big deep pits. if i splash up to much water my truck boggs out, i have a specter cold air intake, it also has the water resistant mesh on the cone, and I'm thinking that its causing the cone to get a bit wet and restrict airflow, not sure though. I'm just looking for ideas on how to fix it or even other possibility's on what it could be.

    Cheers,
    Dylan

If your driving in deep water I would also recommend the "diff breather mod"

Are you sure you're just not in a high gear? Pay attention to your RPMs.

Heres more info, it happens after ive been through the puddle, the truck will not idle and has trouble driving for a few hours after, not a gearing issue.

could you be getting water in your intake? water resistant still means that water can still get in. especially if youre gunning it to get through a water pit. I don't know if getting the MAF moist will cause the problem youre having but mines shut down completely before due to water being in the air box.

Ive always heard CAI's are pretty terrible about allowing water and moisture into your intake. it sounds a lot like that's your problem. good luck buddy! get a snorkel! :boink:

Not deep but when your tires are a foot and a half wide and your movin quick it displaces lots of water straight up to the engine compartment

Might just be you ignition wires getting wet, take a spray bottle with water and mist the wires, see if it replicates the problem.

You may also want to consider replacing your clutch fan with an electric one with a kill switch so you can shut it off when going through these "puddles" to prevent the fan from spraying shit everywhere
