Have you ever heard about how before a massive tsunami happens, the tide goes way out and it's very peaceful and calm. We're at that point right now.

JK, I actually think that's pretty cool.

Couple things come to mind when I see these iron step/plates installed in any hitch.

    1. If you get rear-ended, where do you think the energy will be transferred upon impact? Frame instead of bumper most likely causing more damage than intended? Possible.
    2. Someone walking/running through a parking lot and gets themselves a nice shinner from your iron step. Hopefully it's not the douchebag that like to damage cars with keys, because believe me, they are out there.

Just playing devils advocate, but to each his own..

I'm not a physicist, but I think what you're saying about energy transfered to the frame, it would have to be a direct hit right on the hitch step. I have the same one, but mainly because asshats in NYC like to play bumper cars when they parallel park.

First off, that is awesome OP, both the licence plate and the step in your hitch.
Now down to business, I am just going to skip point 1 and let´s talk about point 2.
If some sorry SOB is walking that close to my truck to hit is knee, leg, whatever on something sticking out no further than what OP has, then he deserves to get hit. Hell, if see him walk into it, I may just have to laugh at him. I leave my draw bar in all the time, and I have come out to see someone park as close as they can to it, makes me glad its there cause otherwise they would be that close to my bumper, and we can´t have that. So, who cares if some idiot gets hurt on that thing, he had it coming. Rock on OP. :headbang:
