That's pretty crazy. Hope you're ok and didn't do too much damage to your truck.

Yeah the guilt and civil stuff is what I'm thinking of. I can just imagine trying to shoot the guy and killing a baby. That's exactly what would happen to me.

You are responsible for that bullet, where ever it ends up, and yes in CA, you better have a very good reason for blowing some POS thug away. They have more rights than you.

there is no debate, I own a gun(s) and thats that. When I retire going to a state that the laws are a bit less liberal.

I hope you are ok. Where/how did this occur? Just trying to learn how to avoid that.

True but in California it is essentially impossible to obtain a CCW. So unless you're one of the very few exceptions or are armed for a profession (military/armed guard/police) you don't have a legal reason to keep a loaded gun on your possession in public and certainly not in your vehicle.

Sucks. They'll probably get a plea deal and sentence to less than 10 years, be out in less than half that and end up robbing somebody else or worse. Glad you are OK man. Did you resist at all? I can't imagine the point in beating someone if they're already compliant and you have a gun to their head.

Well I guess this settles the engine/transmission debate.

    It can outrun police cruisers...

Damn! I'm glad you didn't have any passengers or kids in the back seat.
What were you doing in the parking lot? Was it a busy lot? Were you inside your truck?

People talk big on how they would react but even guys with a lot of military training are not always going to react the way they THOUGHT they would react when a man has a gun pointed at your head and your entire existence is within a millisecond of ending. I do carry a loaded 357 most of the time but I will tell you that if a guy puts a gun to my head I'm going to pretty much be at his mercy. You don't have a lot of options at that point and even as fast as you think you are, you probably aren't going to be as fast as his finger on the trigger of a loaded gun. A real quick risk analysis has to be processed and you better hope you pick the right option.

That is true, but what if it's your kid who gets erroneously shot by some well to do citizen trying to defend themselves against someone they thought had a gun?

Eh, part of me says you'd be screaming about how that person shouldn't have had a gun if they didn't know how to use it.

I certainly don't know you, but it's unlikely you'd shrug off your kid being killed as unlucky. I'm not anti gun either, it's just a gray area.
