Well, ARB lockers, air compressor, long travel, rock lights, winch, etc...

 

Long travel, winch, air compressorand rock lights I could see. Especially being in the west. Lockers eh debatable if you have the rear locker already.

 

Yeah, but I dont go offloading enough to justify most of it. However, that new smittybilt winch looks very tempting.

 

Yeah you need to change that haha! Just take a lot more care of shittybuilt stuff. If you take proper care of it, it'll last. When I move out west I'll get a warn or come up winch

 

I have a Warn winch. It's never not worked. Sucker is HEAVY though with 130' of steel cable. It'll definitely hit you in the MPG department. It's like carrying another gas tank or something out in front of the front tires

 

Yeah I bet! But I like reliable stuff tho and I know Warn is super reliable

I know I need it.... But that's a good bit of money for something that I really don't use all that often

 

Which is why I haven't thought about buying a winch. I won't use it much and it's a huge hassle to deal with the installation. Plus the guys I run with at least one of them has one

 

I have never had to winch myself out of a pickle. I've only used it to winch out my friends' jeeps and I've used it to pull down trees at our deer lease

 

That's what my friend has done. Used it to pull a Jeep and then just to re-spool his line

Can anyone explain why an aftermarket diff breather is needed/desired? Just curious.

 

It's not necessarily an aftermarket per say but it's for when you go through water/mud holes n such you're rear diff doesn't suck up any water. It needs air to breath and if you move it up higher water won't get in it. It takes maybe 30 minutes if you know what you're doing and less time if it's not rusted on. Maybe $20 worth of parts well worth time/effort/money to know you're diff won't get messed up when going through water.

 

That makes sense! I thought it might've been to keep it cool or something... I do plan on going through the occasional muddy creek, so I should probably do this ASAP! Thanks!

Last weekend went out to AOP since Skip cancelled our Gulches meet because of rain. Glad we went there because it was the best trip I've been on for a while, not to mention the weather was perfect! Hit some of the harder stuff this time around and I know what I need to do before I hit those again!

Priority list for the harder trails:
-full skids, I touched my cross member twice
-higher ground clearance, there were a few times where being taller would've helped out a lot even if it was 1-2 inches or so
-lights, night wheeling was fun as hell just need more than 2 pods and retros next time I go out
-better suspension, it would've made the ride a lot better. Eibachs and bilsteins are just too rough for me

Not sure when any of this will happen but we'll see what I can do. I will be going back for sure and multiple times! I prefer the rock at AOP to the ruts and mud of Gulches.

Anyways on to some of the pics. We actually had a nice camera out this time and I have yet to go through the pics and videos. So it may take some time for those but here's some of what I got and what others got. Enjoy!




At the flex ramp, manual sucks sometimes! I couldn't get all the way up and brake quick enough to stay up. I also need to adjust my e-brake cable it's a little loose.


At the top of trail 94 (I think). Took @Skootter14 and @3milecreek a couple of tires to squeeze between the rocks but only took me once since I'm a few inches skinnier!

I'll have to go through 2 libraries to find some more! This is by far the biggest photo dump I've ever done ha. All in all it was a great trip! Met some awesome dudes and plan to wheel with them some more! Only damage I got (that I know of yet) are my hood won't open, O2 sensor needing replaced, rock rash on 2 rims, scrapes on appropriate armor and 2 scraps on my cross member. Due to so much jarring I think the mechanism of my hood got loose so I plan on taking my armor off and messing with some stuff Friday.
