Ok so I had never pictured myself buying a truck because I was always more of a small, sport, stick, turbo type of guy...but when I bought my house in Sept 2015 I knew I needed to make some decisions about getting something I can haul stuff in... like sod, marble chips and landscaping stuff...not to mention any furniture piece I see I may like as a new addition. I really didn't need all that fancy 4x4 stuff, just something I could drive daily and if I needed something to pick up I could do it. I had just bought a 2014 Corolla S Plus 6 speed tranny and I loved it. Had all the bells and whistles. I needed something practical... My salesperson who sold me the Corolla back in 14 had talked me out of my previously owned Prius telling me she could get a better rate. Of course I was bored with the Prius and wanted something stick. She suckered me on this deal and a year later was calling me back saying she got promoted to the VIP department. She went on to say that she thinks she may get me a better deal. I went in on a Saturday and spent about 3 hours of my time and hers trying to convince her that NO I did not want a RAV4. Apparently Toyota offers incentives on their big 3 vehicles... Camry, Corolla and Rav4. Since I didn't want to play by her rules and get the Rav4 she decided to shut down on me and lowballed me for the Corolla trade. I stormed out of there furious because it was a total waste of my time.

Went into work the next morning and told one of my co-workers about my experience. He then told me to hit them up on Facebook and tell the story. I never knew how powerful Social Media was until I did just that. I went ahead and told my story and let them know about my dis-satisfaction with the dealer. In about less than an hour I received an email from the internet team at the dealership to contact them or the general manager to see if they could help. I went straight to the top and spoke with the General Manager. He managed to finagle some numbers and wound up giving me a 2016 Tacoma 2.7 Double cab 4x2 for 23K flat. They did what they could to get me in a Tacoma. I love my truck even though it's the base SR.. I am getting stuff for it to make it my own. Simple nothing complicated and a all around solid truck. I love my Taco!

Congrats and welcome! Doesn't matter what trim ya got...it's all about the experience. I ditched my prius because I needed to use it much like you for home improvements and landscaping.

I've had mine 6 months and love it.
