Seriously, the best two mods are a three inch lift and new wheel/tire combo that has a more aggro backspacing.

    Your truck will look mean.

If you are on a tight budget, I would look at a Toytec 3"(Bilstein) coilover lift or an OME 3" lift. If you have a few extra bucks go for the ICON 3" lift

If you OffRoad, it'll rub even with a 3" lift. You'll need to remove the mud flaps, do minor trimming of the flares, and cmc.

You have no lift? And you are thinking 285s will fit with no rubbing?

285s will definitely rub with no lift, unless you do lots of cutting and hacking.

Even with a 3" lift, you will most likely still rub. A lot of it depends on your wheel back spacing. I think 4.5" bs is ideal, from what I've read.

Wheel spacers push the wheels out... Great if you are rubbing on the UCAs, but then you may start rubbing on cab mounts.

I went with 4.5" bs wheels and aftermarket UCAs to maximize caster with my 285s. Didn't rub much initially, a little on the mud flaps and the front splash guards had to come off.

I agree with most of this but I think 4" bs is the best option and then plan on a CMC.

yes it will help, though will not likely eliminate the need for some trimming

OP.... there is no way you are going to get 285/75R16's to fit without rubbing of some kind.

Plan on the very least, inner fender cutting, and mud flap removal..... but also plan on cab mount chop, flatten pinch weld, inner fender removal etc if you actually flex your truck more than the cub at the mall.

^^taking on these expectations is the smart approach. You may not need to do all of the above, but will definitely do some of it at the least.
