2016 Tonneau Cover Bait and Switch

I "thought" I ordered a 2016 TRD Sport with the Toyota Tonneau cover last November. The dealer and I both assumed the tonneau cover was a dealer installed option.

When I closed on the deal and took delivery of the truck, with tonneau cover included in the price, I was told the tonneau cover was on back order.

2 months later I was told the tonneau cover was in and I scheduled installation.

The tonneau they installed was an after market substitute. When I complained they promised to get me the factory cover.

From what I've learned from conversations with other Toyota part departments is that the "Toyota" Tonneau cover is not and will not be available as a dealer installed option.

Can anyone out there shed light on this? If I'm stuck with the after market cover should I demand any type of restitution?

If true, I believe the dealer acted in good faith but Toyota did not fully inform the consumers let alone their dealers.
