hey guys this is my first post but I've been looking into putting a light bar in the front bumper of my 2002 ext can tacoma. Just wondering what is the best way to do this without having to cut into the plastics too much. As well as what size light bar fits best and recommendations for light bar brands too.

Couple good threads to start with:

As far as the brand/type, all depends on what kind of lighting you want really. Flood/spot/combo... There's many different optics to choose from as well, as far as different reflector designs go. Like cheapo "optic-less" reflectors/3d/4d/5d.. Then there's different led types as well. Epistar(don't get)/ cree/ osram/ Phillips... Cree is pretty much the best as far as budget light bars go (or most common anways). Even some top tier brands use Cree. Vision X uses Luminus but haven't heard of anyone else using them... Osrams are nice, but kinda specific to 4d/5d bars, as I think they are more effective paired with those optics.

Depends on your budget as well..
If sky is the limit, get a top tier brand. Like vision x or Baja designs. If you are on a fairly tight budget and will suffice with second best, I always suggest clones of the top tier brands.

I love my single row bars with 10watt leds. Vision x clones. And there's clones of a few top tier brands to choose from. Kinda hard to find. But basically you input whatever bar you like, into eBay or Amazon and look for the clones. As they won't be associated with the name brand ones. For example you would search for it something like this:
"20inch cree led light bar 120w"
Or whatever length and wattage that bar is, from a name brand you want. I also always try and suggest 3d. Pretty much the most effective optic design imo. And produces the most useable spread of light between them all. But again depending on what kind of lighting you want, one might be better than the other for your specific desire/needs.

Just do lots of poking around here and get familiar with what people like. As well as getting familiar with the different optics and what kind of lighting you want. Also YouTube shows some good output comparisons of the different optics. I believe I posted some vids like that in the led light bar quest thread.

Good luck and welcome! There's lots of guys willing to help. If you don't get help right away be patient. Someone will chime in.
